Google's Caffeine is a site indexing capability that was originally put in use in 2010; it was Google's offering to the online world promising better and faster indexing capabilities. Of course, many questions arose at the time and continue to surface about this technology, primary dealing with the area of search engine optimization. In an effort to rule out common misconceptions, here's a quick overview of what Caffeine has done for SEO.  One of the worries most people had about Caffeine was that it would change how websites are ranked on its search engine. How to do SEO is an age-old question. A question asked by marketers, entrepreneurs and professionals alike. This is a very in-depth conversation that goes far beyond just one simple article. But here are the basics. There is two schools of thought, there is on page SEO and off page SEO. Many side with one or the other as being the best and the greatest. Honestly though, it is a bit of both.  On page SEO is all about creating high value, keyword rich content on your actual website. When Google sends it spiders (programs that read websites) they will index your website as being very rich in a few keywords. Or they might slap you if you overstuff your website with the keyword you're targeting.

That is why it is really important to always write for people, not for the spider robot army of Google. High value content always trumps poor search engine optimization attempts. This will help you boost your ranking in Google over time.  The other side of the coin is known as off page SEO. Now there is a lot of debate here of what is right and ethical and what is wrong. Before we get into that debate, I will talk a little bit about what it is. Off page SEO uses what are known as back linking strategies.

A backlink is just where a website links back to your website. The philosophy is the more backlinks you have, the more important Google will see your website as for the keyword you are targeting. They will deem you a website of influence and reward you as so.  However, there is definitely a big difference between high quality backlinks and low quality backlinks. Many people use spam services to auto submit to millions of article directories at once. This is generally viewed as a very bad practice. All you are doing is filling the Internet with spam - no one likes spam.

No matter where you go to build your links, you should always realize that someone is going to be reading your article. Always write for people.  The ethical way building a backlinks are plenty and work way better. Many people do not realize that by spamming backlinks, you are actually going to get slapped in the face by Google. How to Submit a Sitemap to Search Engines

Lots of people talk about or sell search engine submission services, however very few talk about generating site maps and submitting these to search engines. The reality is that submitting a site map is far more likely to not only get your site indexed more quickly, but also it can also have a positive effect on rankings.

Firstly it is free, very quick and easy for anyone to do. Secondly re-submitting your site over and over again will not improve your rankings and if anything will have the opposite effect and be viewed as spamming (unfortunately there are lots of companies out there misleading people when it comes to submission services). Once your site is indexed, in order to improve your rankings you need to look at implementing on-site SEO and then off-site SEO as well depending on the amount of competition in your market. Remember re-submitting your site is not going to improve your rankings.

A sitemap generated for search engines is different to the type of site map you may have on your website itself which is a simplified way for users to navigate your site, although the concept is the same.  A site map in this case is an XML document, which effectively tells them all the pages that your site contains, and where to find them.  Now if you simply submit your site to search engines you are only submitting the overall domain, which means when they index your site they are less likely to index internal pages, so submitting a site map increases the chances of internal pages being indexed more quickly as well, which can increase your chances of ranking higher.

Well firstly you need to generate an XML sitemap ready for submission. To do this if you simply Google the phrase XML sitemap you should find a number of free tools that will allow you to do this. You simply enter your domain name and then it will look at your entire site and produce an XML sitemap. Note these free tools usually have a limit on the number of pages a sitemap can contain before they charge you, so if you have a larger site you will need to pay a small amount for the service.  Once you have your sitemap then you need to sign in to Webmaster tools in Google and Bing or site explorer in yahoo. Doorway pages were easy exploits for getting on search results, so easy in fact that programs were made to automate the process: just tell the program your keyword, and out comes your doorway page. The proliferation of doorways diluted the quality of search engines' indexes, so the major search engines (Google, Yahoo!, MSN) actively discourage the creation of doorways and delete the ones they find. Finding doorways isn't difficult for search engines, since doorways and gateways tend to be sites with only outgoing links, pointing towards one site (namely, the site that the pages are doorways to). Strategies To Make Flickr SEO Friendly

A lot of people have not realized that it is actually possible to optimize their Flickr accounts to make them more SEO friendly and, therefore, more likely to rank well in searches. Before creating a Flickr account, however, you should decide whether it is going to be helpful for your business or not. Remember, when creating a Flickr account for your business, it is always best to opt for the paid 'Pro-Account', as this gives you the extra options including being able to create collections, which can be very helpful for SEO.
